About the artists 

Jason Singh is a sound artist, nature beatboxer, producer, DJ, facilitator and performer. His work is an ongoing exploration of the natural world, the human voice and music technology. With works spanning a wide range of creative disciplines, his output includes immersive audio installations, sound works derived from plant biodata, radio programmes, sound design and DJ sets. His work has featured on BBC Springwatch, Countryfile, Radio 3 and 6 Music. Singh’s collaborations and commissions include Sir David Attenborough, George Ezra, BBC, V&A Museum, Kew Gardens, National Trust, Tate Britain, Yazz Ahmed, Shabaka Hutchings, Sarathy Korwar, Nitin Sawhney and Talvin Singh.

Liz Hanks is a cellist, composer and collaborator based in Sheffield. Being particularly drawn to folk, Indian classical, and minimalism, improvisation is key to much of Liz’s creative output. She has collaborated with presenter and silent film pianist Neil Brand and at the Yorkshire Silent Film Festival. Indian music has become influential in her creative direction and playing practice. She has collaborated with musicians like Kirpal Singh Panesar and Jasdeep Singh Degun.

Ranjana Ghatak is a singer/composer. She started her learning in the classical and devotional Hindustani vocal traditions in her hometown of London, before continuing her study under the guidance of Maestro Pandit Ajoy Chakabarty. Ranjana has explored traditional music in addition to juxtaposing the beauty of sacred vocal music with contemporary instrumentation. Performances include Bath Music Festival, Wigmore Hall, Barbican Hall, Cadogan Hall and opening for John McLaughlin, Shai Maestro and Trilok Gurtu. Collaborations include Nitin Sawhney, LPO and RPO. She has performed in the opening sequence of the Opening Ceremony for the Commonwealth Games in July 2022.
