THE MANJI GATHERINGS: LOOKING AFTER YOU
Who cares for those who care for mothers?
Midwives and maternal health professionals are invited to pause, reflect and reconnect in a supportive space centred on self-care.
Through conversation and creative activities, we'll explore what strengthens us as individuals, as carers and as a community.
Part of the gathering will take place on a Manji, a traditional woven daybed that is a place for rest, reflection and collective care. We will begin and end with Simran, a practice of stillness and deep listening, to create space for presence and authentic connection.
This gathering is part of a series that began at without SHAPE without FORM in Slough and now continues at the Whitworth in Manchester. It invites honest exchange about what’s working, and what isn’t, within ourselves and the systems we inhabit. Each gathering takes place around Roo Dhissou’s Manji (A String of Love, 2025), currently featured in REFLECTIONS – SANGAT AND THE SELF at the Whitworth, offering a space for fellowship, shared progress and collective care.
Presented in collaboration with The Wellcome Collection.
